Thanksgiving weekend, The Theresa Foundation was once again a participant in United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Festival of the Trees. This year’s theme, “With a Song in Our Heart”, displayed handmade ornaments made by TAPA students that showed off our love for music and the holiday season! Elizabeth Connolly, TAPA’s art teacher, helped students to create garland, glass ornaments, and felt decorations for this unique red and silver tree. Theresa Foundation Board member, Jane James, created and donated handmade quilted ornaments and a musically themed (and quilted) tree skirt for our heartfelt and stunning tree.

This year’s Holiday Card for the Theresa Foundation and The Theresa Academy featured a series of evergreen trees, topped by hot pink stars, standing in a field of snow. This is the fifth year that our card has been created by one of our very gifted and talented TAPA students!

On Sunday, December 14th, TAPA held the first annual Holiday Breakfast for students and families. Students attended a one-hour workshop with parents and caregivers that included music class, arts and crafts, breakfast, and a private, professional photo session with Santa, Snowmen, and Elves! It was a joyous occasion and we are so proud to offer an opportunity for students with special needs to have a photo taken without having to wait for hours at a noisy, crowded mall. Many thanks to our photographer, Casey Harsch, who generously donated her time and talents for this event…and big hugs to Grandpa Jim (aka,Santa..sshhhhhhhh)!
